Project 007

These bangles in yellow, rose and white gold were entrusted to Alter after some years of daily wear. Covered with scratches and small dents, their surfaces had lost their original shine. Our mission was to restore their elegance while reinterpreting their finish, blending jewelry craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.
The Owner’s Vision
Over time, the bracelets had become part of her everyday life, carrying both the traces of use and the familiarity of a cherished piece. When she turned to Alter, her intention was not simply to restore them, but to reinterpret them. She wanted something new, a discreet evolution. Rather than choosing gem-setting or engraving, she wished to preserve the purity of the original design. The hand-hammered finish offered exactly that balance, a surface that radiates softly, catching the light without excess.

Hand-made Hammering Finish
Using a fine-tipped diamond hammering tool, our jeweler sculpted the gold surface entirely by hand. This process, inspired by the Florentine hammering technique, allows the metal to be shaped through a succession of precise, microscopic impacts. It requires perfect control of force, too much pressure would distort the gold, while too little would dull the texture. The pattern must remain perfectly even across the curved surface, necessitating continuous visual adjustments.

Each bracelet has a hand-hammered finish that gives it a vibrant, luminous look. Depending on the viewing angle, the texture and reflection of each piece changes, which enhances the natural brilliance of the gold and makes every bracelet unique.
The Restoration Process
Our jeweler has previously worked for several major Swiss watch and jewelry companies. Before applying the new finish, the surfaces were meticulously prepared. Years of scratches and micro-impacts were removed to restore a perfectly even base. The bracelets were received in a worn condition, yet structurally intact. The screw motifs were protected throughout the process to maintain the integrity of the initial design, in accordance with the customer’s request.

The project was created through a mix of high-resolution photographs and digital renders, allowing a detailed view of the final result. All restoration and finishing work were carried out in our Swiss workshops with the same precision and respect for craftsmanship that define the highest standards of fine jewelry.
Each creation by Alter Geneva is carried out on a personal watch provided by a client. These works are independent and are neither produced, approved, nor guaranteed by the original manufacturers. They are strictly intended for private use, with no commercial purpose.
